According to Gem Select, Onyx is black and white banded
agate (cryptocrystalline or chalcedony quartz).
Niccolo onyx, which has a very thin upper layer, allowing the black base
colour to show through as grey or blue. Onyx has a hardness of 6.5 to 7.
Blue Onyx has been used in rosaries for centuries.
Blue Onyx is said to releases stress, anxiety, worry and
grief. It carries a soothing and healing
energy and assists us with clear communication.
It is a sobriety stone especially when coupled with
amethyst.
Blue Onyx is associated with the throat chakra.
