PISCES BIRTHSTONE CLEAR QUARTZ

 As mentioned earlier this week, we have entered the sun sign of Pisces.  The Pisces birthstones (also known as the sunstones) are aquamarine, amethyst, bloodstone, jade, clear quartz and sapphire.  The talisman for Pisces is ruby.

 

Today we will highlight Clear Crystal Quartz which is the most requested stone in commissioned jewellery. 

 

Clear Quartz is said to be an amplifier particularly of the white energy of our higher self and in achieving clarity in our communication abilities as well as our own personal thoughts.

 

Clear Quartz, just as with Apophollite and Amethyst, is a stone used by many healers.

 

It is said if we wear a Clear Quartz, it will open our heart and our minds to higher vibrations which allows our earthly self to connect and understand the truths of spirit.

 

Clear Quartz is associated with the upper chakras

 

Clear Quartz has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale and is the most common stone found on our planet.

PISCES - AQUAMARINE

 We have entered the sun sign of Pisces.  The Pisces birthstones (also known as the sunstones) are aquamarine, amethyst, bloodstone, jade, clear quartz and sapphire.  The talisman for Pisces is ruby.

 

Today we are highlighting Aquamarine which is from the Beryl family.  Aquamarine comes by its lovely greeny or sea blue colour from iron impurities in the colourless, glassy beryl crystal. It has a hardness of 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale.  Aquamarine is also one of the sunstones of Gemini and the birthstone for the month of March.

 

Aquamarine is said to help us to calmly speak our truth and to have courage. The keyword for Aquamarine is courage.  It is said to bring us hope and helps us to experience peace. 

 

Aquamarine is used to help us move forward with positive changes in life by releasing events of the past.

 

Aquamarine is associated with the Throat Chakra.

Gray Agate

All forms and colours of Agate have a hardness of 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale.  Agate is a banded stone which makes it stand out from any other Chalcedony.  Agate has a wonderful waxy luster.

 

Metaphysically, it is said that Agate is a slow and lower vibrational stone. Sure but steady, its energetic effects will take time to manifest but will have wonderful long term benefits.

 

Gray Agate specifically is said to be calming and soothing and is said to be a good choice to assist us to deal with trauma.  It is used for awareness of our thoughts and feelings.

 

Gray Agate is used for grounding physically and emotionally.

GARNET

 Garnet has a hardness of 6.5 to 7.5 and has been used in jewellery since the Bronze Age (in the third millennium BC)  Garnet comes in an array of colours from the classic red garnet to red/violet, ambers, oranges, yellows and greens.  Today’s garnet is a deep red which only reflects back under light.

 

Garnet is associated with love and passion and is known as the stone of commitment.  Garnet is used to amplify and it is said to draw the qualities we are looking for in a relationship such as trust and devotion.  It has been said that its energy bring luck with love.

 

Garnet’s energies are used for success and to assist in reaching our goals.

 

Physically, Garnet is said to reduce toxins in the body and purifies the blood.

 

It is used to activate and amplify other crystals.

 

This is an intense stone which stimulates both the crown and the root chakras.

LARVIKITE

 Larvikite contains a high percentage of the mineral anorthoclase but also contains feldspar which gives it the blue reflective qualities.  Larvikite has a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale.

 

Larvikite is used as a grounding and protective stone which originated from Norway (also known as Black Labradorite or Norwegian Moonstone).

 

It is said to enhance our visions and psychic abilities.  Larvikite is used to stimulates the mind and is said to assists us with understanding, spiritual clarity and to open our minds to new ideas without emotional attachment.

 

It is said that Larvikite can metaphysically assist us with learning disabilities, helps brain function and increased vitality.

HEMATITE, CRYSTALS AND PEARLS

This featured set has been created with Hematite, Swarovski Crystals and black Pearls.  It is a true touch of elegance. 

 

Hematite is an iron oxide with trace amounts of titanium and has a hardness of 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale.  It is a myth that Hematite is magnetic on its own.  Hematite is only magnetic if it contains magnetite.  

 

Swarovski Crystals are not natural crystal stones but are manmade crystal glass.

 

Pearl is one of the most ancient of gemstones. Pearls which are referred to as black can be found in many dark hues such as grey, charcoal, metallic and dark purple.  Pearls have a hardness of 2.5 and as a result, scratch easily.

 

Hematite is use to ground and enhance expansion and protection. It is associated with peace and harmony. Hematite is said to harmonize the spirit, mind and body.  Hematite is used to stimulate memory, concentration and focus. FEBRUARY BIRTHSTONE, BLOODSTONE

 As mentioned in our last post, Bloodstone is one of the birthstones for February.  Amethyst being the other birthstone and the most well known.

 

Bloodstone is the mineral Heliotrope which is a variety of Jasper or chalcedony.  Bloodstone has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.

 

Jasper, as a whole, in ancient times, was worn by shamans and kings as it is a powerful protection stone and helps to ground.

 

Jasper is known as the supreme nurturer and its energy is slow and continual.

 

Bloodstone is said to specifically draws strength and vitality and is known to assists us in being loving and compassionate. It is said to assist with courage, living in the moment and calming the mind.

 

Bloodstone is used to assist with the clarity when trying to make good decision as it helps to clear impatience and aggressiveness from the scenario. 

 

Bloodstone is said to cleanse our energy as well as our blood.  It has been used to benefit blood rich organs and circulation.  Metaphysically it is known to be a powerful healer.

AMETHYST – February Birthstone

 Amethyst and Bloodstone are the two birthstones of February.  The traditional birthstone is Amethyst.  Within the month of February, we will experience both Aquarius and Pisces sun signs.  Recently we highlighted Amethyst as it is the birthstone/sunstone of Aquarius.  There are several other birthstone/sunstones for Aquarius which we have touched on recently.  We will look at the birthstone/sunstones of Pisces when we enter the sign of Pisces.

 

Today we are highlight Amethyst in honour of the traditional birthstone of February.  Amethyst is from the quartz family and has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. 

 

Amethyst is one of the most popular of the healing stones and is considered the master healer.

 

Amethyst is a stone associated with calm, sincerity, protection and purification.  

 

Amethyst's energies are also associated with the psychic realm.

 

Amethyst comes from the Greek word methustos which can be translated as intoxicated. This stone has been used for centuries in association with sobriety and is also used for other addictions.  It is said that Amethyst assists with the elimination of cravings. (Oh yet another good reason to highlight Amethyst)

 

In healing, Amethyst is not only used on those being healed but also is worn by the healer as its energies heal the healer.

 

Physically, Amethyst is said to assist with headaches as well as assists and stimulates the immune system.
