PISCES - JADE

Now that we are in the sign of Pisces we thought we would highlight the Pisces birthstones also known as the sunstones which are aquamarine, amethyst, sapphire, jade, bloodstone and clear quartz.  The talisman for Pisces is ruby.

Today we are highlighting Jade.  Jade is Nephrite and/or Jadeite but there are many minerals that claim to be Jade which are not.  Jadeite has a hardness of 6.5 to 7 and Nephrite is slightly softer.  Jade though known of its many shades of green (which is caused by iron) can come is a variety of colours including green, white, orange, yellow, lavender, grey and black. 

Jade is known as the dream stone and is said to bless everyone it touches. It offers peace through strength and a sense of calm.  It is also known as the protection stone.  It is a stone of good fortune and prosperity. 

Jade is said to offer good luck and friendship. 

Physically, it is a healing stone and a talisman for those who heal. 

Jade is connected to the heart chakra.

AQUAMARINE- PISCES PLANETARY STONE

In honour of the sun sign Pisces, we are highlighting its planetary stone, Aquamarine.

Aquamarine is from the Beryl family and it come by its greeny or sea blue colour from iron impurities in the colourless glassy beryl crystal. It has a hardness of 7.5 to 8.

Aquamarine helps us to calmly speak our truth and to have courage. The keyword for Aquamarine is Courage.  It brings us hope and helps us to experience peace. 

Aquamarine can help us move forward with positive changes in life by releasing events of the past.

Aquamarine is associated with the Throat Chakra.

AMETHYST – February Birthstone

Amethyst and Bloodstone are the two birthstones of February, Amethyst being the traditional birthstone.  Within the month of February, we will experience both Aquarius and Pisces sun signs. 

Amethyst is from the quartz family and has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. 

Amethyst is one of the most popular of the healing stones and is considered the master healer.

Amethyst is a stone associated with calm, sincerity, protection and purification.  

Amethyst's energies are also associated with the psychic realm.

Amethyst comes from the Greek word methustos which can be translated as intoxicated. This stone has been used for centuries in association with sobriety and is also used for other addictions.  It is said that Amethyst assists with the elimination of cravings. (Oh yet another good reason to highlight Amethyst)

In healing, Amethyst is not only used on those being healed but also is worn by the healer as its energies heal the healer.

Physically, Amethyst is said to assist with headaches as well as assists and stimulates the immune system.

Amethyst is associates with the crown chakra.

YELLOW QUARTZ AND LAVA BRACELET

This bracelet has not only been created for looks and for its metaphysical energies but you can also add essential oils to the Lava stone which acts as a wick. Just as with stone energy, essential oils have wonderful affects on our bodies, minds and emotions. You can add a different essential oil each day depending on your needs and likes. 

Lava or Lava stone is also known as Volcanic rock or Basalt and has a hardness of 3 to 3.5.   

Our focal stone, yellow quartz (which is surrounded with stainless beads) has a hardness of 7 as with all quartz.

Yellow quartz has been said to assist with change and finding a new path.  It is said to assist with burn out and fatigue.  It is suggested to wear of carry yellow quartz particularly through the dull sunless winter months to assist with depression and SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder).  This stone is linked to joy and vitality.

Lava stone energy is known to bring strength and courage to those that wear it and is known to curb our anger. Like most black stones, it is grounding and offers protection. Lava is also a high energy stone and is associates with fertility.  It is considered to help raise libito. Lava is a powerful stone for those born under the element of Fire in Astrology. It is also beneficial for those that lack fire and are timid or lack drive.

Yellow Quartz is associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra and Lava is also associates with the root chakra.

BALTIC AMBER, CARNELIAN & QUARTZ BRACELET

In December we highlighted our three strand memory wire version of a Baltic Amber, Carnelian and Quartz bracelet.  Today, we our highlighting the same stones as with our three strand bracelet but in a single strand, clasped bracelet.  Again, this bracelet has been created for looks but also with joint pain in mind.

Baltic Amber when worn against the skin is warmed and releases small amounts of healing oils (succinic acid). The oils are absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream. The oils from Baltic Amber boost the immune system, reduce inflammation and are an analgesic used for pain. Baltic Amber also assists with varicose vein and increases blood circulation.

Red Carnelian (centre bead) is known to be beneficial for arthritis. It is said to speeds up the healing of joints, bones and ligaments and rejuvenates tissues and cells.

Quartz is the "master healer" crystal.  Quartz also magnifies the energy of other stones and is known for healing pain.

We normally recommend memory wire for those suffering from joint pain so that they do not have to deal with clasps; however this client intends on putting the bracelet on and leaving it on.
