BALTIC AMBER

Baltic Amber is a fossilized tree resin that is used similarly to any other crystal, mineral or stone in jewellery creation.  Its hardness ranges from 2 to 2.5. 

When amber is worn against the skin, the nugget or bead is naturally warmed by our body heat and the bead releases small amounts of healing oils (succinic acid). The oils are absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream and boost the immune system, reduce inflammation and are an analgesic used for pain. Baltic Amber also assists with varicose vein and increases blood circulation.

Baltic Amber is well known for its healing energies and has been worn by children for their protection since ancient times. Baltic Amber is also ideal for teething toddlers.

BALTIC AMBER NECKLACE OR ANKLET

FRESHWATER PEARL (FULL MOON PENDANT)

We thought it only appropriate to showcase our full moon pendant in honour of the Capricorn Full Moon today.  The June Full Moon is known as the Strawberry Full Moon. 

We have used a Freshwater Pearl to create our full moon in this pendant.  The Pearl reflects the light beautifully for our purposes.

When an irritant, such as a grain of sand, becomes trapped in a mollusk, to protect itself, the mollusk secretes substances (as uses to build its shell) in layers and a pearl is formed.  A pearl has a hardness of between 2.5 to 4.5.

In Astrology, it is suggested to wear jewellery made of pearls to assist those born with a misaligned moon as this will help to enhance love and trust with your spouse or partner. 

The Pearl is a symbol of purity, trust and loyalty. It is not by co-incidence that pearls are usually worn by the bride during wedding ceremonies.

Pearls are used to assist with sexual drive. 

Freshwater pearls enable us to accept love and to see the good within us and within others.  As a result, they assist in strengthening relationships.

Pearls are linked to our heart chakra.

Amethyst is from the quartz family and has a hardness of 7.  This particular pendant showcases two of the numerous shades purple of Amethyst.  The lower stone is a Chevron Amethyst.

Amethyst is one of the most popular of the healing stones and is considered the master healer.

Amethyst is a stone associated with sincerity, protection and purification.  It is also a calming stone.

Amethyst's energies are also associated with the psychic realm.

Amethyst comes from the Greek word methustos which can be translated as intoxicated. This stone has been used for centuries in association with sobriety and is also used for other addictions.  It is said that Amethyst assists with the elimination of cravings.

Charoite is a silicate mineral with a hardness of 4.5 to a 5.  As a result, it can easily scratch but is quite durable.  Charoite is generally a swirl of lilac, violet and purples but can be found with black, orange and green due to impurities. 

Charoite is the stone of transformation. Its energies help us to see clearly and to turn negative emotions into positive ones.

This is a stone of deep emotional and physical healing.

Charoite will helps us when we are exhausted.

ROSE QUARTZ – CANCER SUNSTONE

As mentioned in yesterday’s post, Rose Quartz is one of the many Sunstones of Cancer.  In honour of entering the sign of Cancer yesterday, we are highlighting Rose Quartz today.

Rose quartz as suggested by its name is a member of the Quartz family and has a hardness of 7. The colour is usually muted but occasionally can be found as a vivid pink. Rose quartz is generally not treated.

Rose quartz is the stone of love - love for others AND love for self. It is a crystal of high energy and unconditional love for any situation. 

Rose quartz is used for self-esteem and self-worth. Its loving energies teach us to apply this love to ourselves. This in turn assists us with our own self-worth.

Rose quartz is calming and perfect for crisis.  It helps us to learn to accept change and to deal with unexpressed emotions and grief.

Rose quartz is beneficiary for the female reproductions system and has been worn to assist fertility.

Rose quartz is associated with the heart or 4th chakra.

ROSE QUARTZ – CANCER SUNSTONE

RUBY (Cancer Sunstone) IN ZOISITE

Welcome to the Zodiac sign of Cancer.  The ancient sunstone (I refer to them as sunstones and not birthstones as they represent the sun signs.  Birthstones in my mind represent the month of birth) of Cancer is Ruby.  The traditional sunstones are Ruby and Emerald.  There are many other sunstones associated with Cancer including Moonstone, Carnelian, Rose Quartz and, Calcite to name a few.

Today we are highlighting Ruby in Zoisite.  Zoisite is the green portion of these beads which as a hardness of 6.5 to 7.  The reddish pink inclusions in the beads are Ruby which has a hardness of 9.   Ruby in Zoisite is also known as Anyolite.

Ruby is an energy stone and when combined with Zoisite, it activates the crown chakra and assists in spiritual learning and access to your soul's memory.  This combination is excellent for use in past life work. 

Ruby in Zoisite is associated with courage, happiness, inspiration and emotional stability.  It is also said to assist in utilizing your individuality without separating yourself for humanity. 

Ruby in Zoisite has also been associated with abundance spiritually.

Physically, Anyolite like Zoisite is said to, among other things, increase fertility and assist with menopause and the reproduction organs.

RUBY (Cancer Sunstone) IN ZOISITE

We have created a pendant to go with our Ombre Earrings.  This set consists of Howlite, tourmalated or tourmalinated quartz, snowflake obsidian and black onyx.

Briefly, Howlite is known as the calming stone and is an excellent choice for stress relief. It is the attunement stone & is linked to spiritual dimensions. It opens us to insights & wisdom and is a perfect tool for meditation.

Howlite is used in crystal healing for pain, and issues related to our bones, among other things.

Tourmalated or tourmalinated quartz has the properties of both quartz and tourmaline. It is a grounding stone and it releases tension on all levels. This stone helps us to deal with negative thoughts and helps us to turn our negativity into positivity. It contains wonderful energy for problem solving. 

Tourmalated or Tourmalinated quartz harmonizes our chakras.

Snowflake obsidian is a stone of purity. It is said to be a wonderful protective stone and helps to alleviate negativity. Obsidian is the stone of choice when grieving as well as grounding, manifesting and healing.

Physically obsidian spiritually assists with addictions and emotional blockages as well as bleeding, our digestive system, and eyesight. 

Lastly, black Onyx is the stone of strength, both physically and emotionally. It has been used to aid concentration and to help us with self-discipline. Onyx is said to provide support and self-confidence and is invaluable with past life work and helps to eliminate fear and worry.

Physically, Onyx balances the yin and yang energies within our bodies.

AMAZONITE COMPLETE SET

CORAL

At the end of May, 2018 we featured a coral bracelet.  We were commissioned to create another of these bracelets together with earrings to match which is today’s featured jewellery.

As noted in our May post, Coral is a skeletal structure which is slowly built by small marine animals. Coral is between 3 and 4 in hardness. Natural coral is generally the colour of Carnelian but most coral used in jewellery has been dyed to enhance the red colour. 

Coral is said to aid in meditation, visualization and creativity. As a result, it is a suggested tallisman for artists. 

Coral attracts love, passion and prosperity. It also helps us to become balanced and in harmony with nature.

Physically, Coral is said to assist with circulation and blood issues as well as regeneration.

Coral is said to enhance all of the chakras.

BLACK AGATE (“EMOTIONS” PENDANT)

Agate, which is from the quartz family, has a hardness of 6.5 to 7 and comes in a variety of colours and bands.   Our featured agate today is called “Black Agate”.

Black Agate is a stone said to assist us in dealing with stress and to remain calm. This provides inner strength and emphasizes courage.  It could be called the worry stone.

As with most black stones and minerals, Black Agate is a grounding tool and is associated with our root chakra.

Black Agate is also associated with fertility and the reproductive organs. It is a perfect energy choice for pregnancy and menopause. 

The moon which represents our emotions is an ideal charm to accompany the black agate which all have been placed on the circular pendant representing emotional cycles and energy.  The Lunar charm could be replaced with a fertility goddess to focus on the fertility energies or any other charm of choice.

This set has been created with AA Black Crystal, Lava and Wood beads.

Glass Crystals are not natural crystals but are lead crystal glass which are manmade; the most famous maker being Swarovski in Austria.   Lava stone is also known as Volcanic rock or Basalt and has a hardness of 3 to 3.5.  The final beads are made from natural wood. 

Glass Crystal brings positive energy, hope, joy and good luck.. It is said that they diffuses negative energy. These crystals carry energies of transformation & rebirth.

Hematite is an iron oxide with trace amounts of titanium.  It is a myth that Hematite is magnetic on its own.  Hematite is only magnetic if it contains enough magnetite to attract it to a magnet.

Clear Crystal quartz is a 7 in hardness and is the most common stone found on our planet. Sculptured by nature, no two points are the same.

Quartz Crystal is known as the power stone. It enhances clarity and is high energy.  The smaller crystals that are growing with the larger, older crystal are called trigger crystals.  With energy work, these triggers crystals are said to accentuate the energies of the larger crystal so there is an amplification of healing energies.

The 7 point star is known as the Septegram, Elven Star, Faerie Star or Heptagram. 

With Kabbalah, this star represents Venus & love. In Christianity, it represents the 7 days of creation and is a symbol to ward off evil & is the perfection or God.
