BLACK KYANITE

Black Kyanite is typically a bladed crystal which has a hardness of 4.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale depending on if tested parallel or across the blade.  Black Kyanite is not to be confused with black tourmaline.  Black Kyanite is often found is a fan shape formation which assists in its identification for the layman.

 

Black Kyanite has a high vibration and as a result is a wonderful healing crystal used frequently by healers. 

 

Black Kyanite is said to be the perfect choice for work with clairvoyance (clear vision), meditation, attunements, past life, karma, manifesting work and the list goes on.  This is one for everyone’s toolbox.

 

Black Kyanite is used as a grounding and protecting stone as with most black minerals.  Just as with sage, Black Kyanite can be used for clearing.  Because of its strong clearing energies, it is not necessary to cleanse Kyanite.

 

Kyanite works with all chakras and is suggested for use with clearing the chakras.  It is particularly associated with the root chakra.

FLUORITE

 

Fluorite has a hardness of 4 on the Mohs scale and is a form of calcium fluoride. Fluorite can range in colour from clear to black. Fluorite is naturally clear but impurities are what give the variance in colour. The most popular colour is purple and then green.

 

Fluorite is said to provide mental focus and to assist in the processing and retention of information. It has been called the aptitude stone. As such Fluorite is a perfect choice for students.

 

Spiritually, Fluorite is used for protection, grounding and balancing. It is also used to increase intuitive abilities and to link us to the universal conscious energies when working with our upper Chakras.

BLUE SANDSTONE

Blue Sandstone (a manmade stone) is dark blue, almost purple, with glimmering flecks (copper) throughout.

 

Blue Sandstone is known as a calming stone and is associated with the energies of wealth and prosperity. It said to assists with courage, confidence and willpower.  As a result, it is a talisman for those who are successful and victorious. It would be good company for leaders and entrepreneurs.

ELECTROPLATED DRUZY ON AGATE

Druzy is a collection of tiny crystals with a glittering effect.  The Druzy in our highlighted piece are on an Agate host and the beads have been electroplated to enhance their colours.

 

Druzy is considered to be a healing stone that purifies and amplifies the body's natural healing properties and strengthens the spirit. Druzy is said to help release blocked energies.

 

Druzy’s energies work similar to crystal clusters and therefore are excellent when working in group settings for metaphysical development, meditation groups, support groups, etc.  Druzy is used to bring the group energies together.

 

Druzy’s metaphysical properties are directly linked to the host mineral.  As mentioned our host mineral is Agate.

LAVA STONE & OBSIDIAN

Obsidian has a hardness of 5 to 5.5 and is an igneous rock that formed from molten rock.  Lava or Lava stone is also known as Volcanic rock or Basalt and has a hardness of 3 to 3.5.

 

Obsidian is known as the stone of truth and to alleviate negativity. It is the stone of choice when grieving as well as grounding, manifesting and healing.

 

Lava is known to bring strength and courage to those that wear it. It is said that the energies of Lava help to curb our anger. Lava is a high energy stone and is associates with fertility and is considered to help raise libito.

 

Lava is a powerful stone for those born under the element of Fire in Astrology. It is said to be beneficial for those that lack fire and are timid or lack drive.

 

Like most black stones, both Obsidian and Lava are used for grounding and protection and are associated with the root chakra.

SCORPIO SUNSTONE - AQUAMARINE

 We continue our look at the Birthstone or Sunstones of Scorpio.  Apache tear, beryl, aquamarine, coral, obsidian and topaz are the stones that represent the Zodiac sign of Scorpio.  Today we will highlight Aquamarine which is also the birthstone of March.

 

Aquamarine is from the Beryl family. It come by its greeny or sea blue colour from iron impurities in the colourless glassy beryl crystal. It has a hardness of 7.5 to 8.

 

Aquamarine is said to help us calmly speak our truth and to have courage. The keyword for Aquamarine is Courage.  It is said to bring us hope and to experience peace.

 

Aquamarine is used metaphysically to move forward with positive changes in life by releasing events of the past.

 

Aquamarine is associated with the Throat Chakra.
