HOWLITE

With Canada’s 150 in mind, we thought we would spotlight a red creation.

Howlite when in its raw form is a cauliflower shaped stone with a hardness of 3.5. It is seldom found in crystal form. Howlite is naturally white with grey to black veins but frequently it is dyed. As a result, it is sold in many different colours such as our example below. Most frequently it is dyed and sold as turquoise. However there is a white turquoise that looks similar to natural Howlite.

Howlite is known as the calming stone and is an excellent choice for stress relief.

It is the attunement stone & linked to the spiritual dimensions. It opens us to insights & wisdom and is a perfect tool for meditation.

Howlite is used in crystal healing for pain, and issues related to our bones, among other things.

Howlite is excellent for all of our chakras and is used as a scrying (seeing) crystal.

YELLOW JASPER

Jasper is a form of chalcedony from the quartz family with a hardness of 6.5 to 7.

Yellow Jasper, in particular, has been worn by shamans and priest for protection. It provides insight for spiritual and psychic work as well as meditation.

Jasper helps us to overcome self-consciousness and is perfect when living in small communities to build friendships. A keyword here would be nurture.

Yellow Jasper assists the intellect and is a perfect partner in learning.

All Jasper is associated with grounding and the base chakra. In addition to this, Yellow Jasper is associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra.

AZURE-MALACHITE

The stones in this pendant are a combination of Azurite (Azure Blue) and Malachite (Green). Azurite often occurs in Malachite and is referred to as Azure-Malachite. Both Azurite and Malachite are copper carbonates and both have a hardness of 3.5 to 4.

Azurite assists in clearing and expanding the mind for understanding and Malachite draws peace and harmony, clearing past emotional trauma.

This combination is said to clear emotional trauma from our past and opens the mind to healing.

Physically this stone is used for arthritis and the body’s and bone’s aches.

Pink Opal has a hardness of 6 and is a blend of opal, palygorskite and chalcedony.

ANGELITE (ANHYDRITE)

Angelite is a blue/grey variety of Anhydrite and was only recently discovered in Peru in the 1980’s. Angelite has a hardness of 3 to 3.5 which makes it popular for carving.

Angelite is a higher vibration crystal and is a perfect stone for use in meditation, akashic records, visualization and telepathy, astro travel, etc. It has a connection with our spirit guides and our higher self; thus the name (angelic communications). It enhances our psychic and astrological connections as well.

Labradorite & Clear Crystal Quartz

As Labradorite’s name suggests, it was discovered in Labrador, Canada. It has a hardness of 6 to 6.5. Clear Crystal Quartz has a hardness of 7 and is the most common stone found on our planet.

Labradorite has a wonderful metallic reflective quality when light hits on specific angles and is known for its lovely flashes of colour. The main stone in this necklace brightly reflects a soothing, wonderful blue. Labradorite has been associated with or compared to the aurora borealis.

Labradorite enhances our intuitive and mental abilities as well as our ability to open up to new ideas. It assists with dream recall. This is the stone of transformation. Labradorite also assists those that use their hands for healing.

PETRIFIED WOOD

Petrified wood is a fossilized wood but the organic materials of the wood have been replaced by minerals such as Jasper and Chalcedony. It has a hardness of 6.5 to 7.

We are again sticking with the Father’s Day theme as this s a great unisex pendant.

Like most other fossils, petrified wood is a grounding and stabilizing stone. Just as the fossil bead in Friday’s pendant, petrified wood has a positive effect on business and the world around us because they attract harmony and organization.

FAIRY STONE (Calcium Carbonate)

Fairy stones, a Calcium Carbonate, are approximately 10,000 years old and are a 7 to 7.5 in hardness. These stones are found in northern Quebec and Ontario. Each stone is unique in their design and have been referred to as a Biscuit stones due to their appearance.

Natives of Northern Canada offered Fairy stones as tokens of their love and these stones are thought to be good luck.

For Father’s Day, we thought we would reach into a different box to create. Today, we have reached into the workshop as we wanted to create something unique for Dad….and we nailed it!

This pendant, made from galvanized nails, has been wrapped in copper and strung on a leather strap.

Copper has been used for millennia for physical healing. It is a great conductor of energy and therefore used for metaphysical healing.
