Coral - SCORPIO BIRTHSTONE

We continue our look at the Birthstone or Sunstones of Scorpio.  Apache tear, beryl, aquamarine, coral, obsidian and topaz are the stones that represent the Zodiac sign of Scorpio.  Today we will highlight Coral.

 

Coral is a skeletal structure which is slowly built by small marine animals. Coral is between 3 and 4 in hardness on the mohs scale. Natural coral is generally the colour of Carnelian but most coral used in jewellery has been dyed to enhance the red colour.

 

Coral is said to aid in meditation, visualization and creativity. As a result, it is a suggested talisman for artists.

 

Coral has been used over time to attract love and increase passion and prosperity. It was also used to assist in the creation of balance and harmony with nature.

 

Coral is used to enhance all of the chakras.

APACHE TEAR - SCORPIO BIRTHSTONE

On October 23, we entered the sign of Scorpio.  Apache tear, beryl, aquamarine, coral, obsidian and topaz are the stones that represent the Zodiac sign of Scorpio.  Today we are highlighting Apache Tear.

 

Apache Tear is a common name for round small black obsidian nodules which are made of volcanic glass. Apache tear has a hardness of 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs scale. These nodules are brittle and chip easily so it is important to be careful when storing them with other stones. As a side note, I actually prefer the chipped nuggets as this gives them dimension and more reflection; character if you will.

 

Apache Tear is said to be a good luck stone.

 

Apache Tear is used to relieve grief and sadness. This is used as a tool for those that give support during stressful situations.

 

Apache Tear is said to be grounding and is known to give protection. Just as with black obsidian, Apache Tear is used to protect from negativity in our surroundings and from within (such as negative thoughts and reactions).

 

Apache Tear is associated with the root chakra.

YELLOW FLUORITE

Fluorite is a calcium fluoride with a hardness of 4.  Fluorite comes in an array of colours including  Yellow, Green, Purple, Blue, Black, White, Pink, Red, Brown and Orange.

 

In general, Fluorite is known as a highly protective stone and is used metaphysically for grounding and harmonizing spiritually. Fluorite is said to increase intuitive abilities, links us to the universal consciousness and connects us to Spirit when working with our upper Chakras.

 

Yellow Fluorite, our highlighted stone, is considered the genius stone, the stone of the mind. It is excellent for students as it is said to assist understanding, intelligence, and logic. It is a stone of choice for group work and combined efforts.

CELESTITE

 Celestite (also known as Celestine) has a hardness of 3 to 3.5. Its colours can be clear, blue, orange, light brown, and green/blue.  PLEASE NOTE that Celestite will fade if continually kept in sunlight.

 

Celestite is known as the Angel or angelic stone and is said to connect us to divine energy.

 

Angelic guidance and wisdom are said to be invited when praying or meditating with Celestite. Metaphysically it is used to assist in astral travel and is said to be a perfect tool for developing physic abilities.

 

Celestite is said to be a superb choice for overcoming fear, stress, obsessive tendencies and anxiety.

BOHO CRYSTAL POINTS

Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz and can range from light to dark purple and from clear to a solid colour. The clear gem grade Amethyst is the most sought-after version of this mineral. Amethyst, as with all quartz, has a hardness of 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale.

 

Amethyst is one of the most popular of the healing stones and is considered the master healer.

 

Amethyst is a stone associated with sincerity, protection and purification.

 

Amethyst's energies are also associated with the psychic realm.

SELENITE PENDANT

 Selenite is a very soft stone with a hardness of 2 on the Mohs scale. 

 

Selenite is known as the stone of clarity and honest. Selenite is associates with the Moon.

 

It is used to assist with working with spirit and our guides. It is an excellent stone for psychics and is used for meditation. Many readers use Selenite to clear the energies after a reading.

AMBER, CARNELIAN & QUARTZ

The main bead in this bracelet is Baltic Amber which is a fossilized tree resin with a hardness ranging from 2 to 2.5 on the Mohs scale.

 

When Amber is worn against the skin, the nugget or bead is naturally warmed by our body and a small amounts of healing oils (succinic acid) is released and absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream. Succinic acid is known to boost the immune system, reduce inflammation and is used as an analgesic for pain. Baltic Amber is noted as assisting with varicose vein and increasing blood circulation.
