Amethyst is a stone associated with sincerity, protection, purification.  It is a calming stone.

Amethyst comes from the Greek word methustos which can be translated to intoxicated.  This stone has been used for centuries in association with sobriety.  It is also used for other addictions, and it is said that Amethyst assists with the elimination of cravings.

In healing, Amethyst is not only used on those being healed but also is worn by the healer.  Amethyst is said to assist with headaches as well as assists and stimulates the immune system.

Amethyst is the sunstone for the Astrological sign of Pisces and traditionally is the birthstone for the month of February.
