TONES OF GREY WITH BLACK JEWELLERY SET (Jasper, Obsidian & Lava Stone)

 Our necklace and earring set today hosts various types of Jasper, a touch of snowflake obsidian and is finished with lava stone. 

 

Jasper is an opaque variety of Chalcedony with a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale.  Snowflake Obsidian is a dark volcanic glass with a hardness of 5 to 5.5.  Lava stone is also known as Volcanic rock and has a hardness of 3 to 3.5.

 

The bulk of the Jasper in our creation is known as Picasso Stone, Picasso Marble, Black Line Jasper, Spiderweb Jasper or Silk Stone. 

 

Jasper is known as a soothing stone.  This stone is said to align us with the universe.  It is a connecting stone as well as a balancing stone.  It is said to assist us in our convictions, happiness, and confidence.

 

Snowflake obsidian is known as a stone of purity. It is said to be a wonderful protective stone and helps to alleviate negativity. Obsidian is the stone of choice when grieving, grounding, manifesting and healing.

 

Lava stone’s energy is known to bring strength and courage to those that wear it. It is said that the energies of Lava stone helps to curb our anger. Like most black stones, it is grounding and is used for protection. Lava is also a high energy stone and is associates with fertility. It is considered to help raise libido. Lava is a powerful stone for those born under the element of Fire in Astrology. It is also beneficial for those that lack fire and are timid or lack drive.

SAGITTARIUS - AMETHYST

The Zodiac sign Sagittarius has five different birthstones or sunstones.  They are ruby, topaz, amethyst, sapphire, and turquoise.   We are highlighting Amethyst today.

 

Amethyst is from the quartz family and has a hardness of 7.  This particular pendant showcases a natural Amethyst point.

 

Amethyst is one of the most popular of the healing stones and is considered the master healer.

 

Amethyst is a stone associated with sincerity, protection and purification.  It is also a calming stone.

 

Amethyst's energies are also associated with the psychic realm.

 

Amethyst comes from the Greek word methustos which can be translated as intoxicated. This stone has been used for centuries in association with sobriety and is also used for other addictions.  It is said that Amethyst assists with the elimination of cravings.

 

In healing, Amethyst is not only used on those being healed but also is worn by the healer as its energies are used to heal the healer.

 

Physically, Amethyst is said to assist with headaches as well as assists and stimulates the immune system.

 

Amethyst is also the sunstone for the Astrological sign of Pisces and traditionally is the birthstone for the month of February.  It is also a talisman for a Scorpio to help balance their emotions and their power.

 

Amethyst is associates with the crown chakra.

PYRITE

Pyrite is made of iron sulfide and can also contain small amounts of cobalt, nickel, silver, and gold. Pyrite has hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale.  Pyrite’s metallic luster has given rise to its nickname “Fools Gold” and is often found in gold deposits.

 

Pyrite known as a stone of protection and has been used as a talisman for protection and well being.  It is associated with self-esteem, confidence and willpower.

 

Pyrite is said to inspire creativity in many areas including the arts and areas of study that require perfection. Pyrite is used to stimulates commitment, ambition and perseverance. This is an ideal stone for students but also for the student’s Mother.

 

Physically, Pyrite is said to help with viral infections, including colds and flu.

 

Pyrite is associated with the solar plexus chakra (3rd).

CAPRICORN BIRTHSTONE - RUBY

 Birthstones for the month of December include the modern birthstones Turquoise, Tanzanite and blue Topaz, the traditional birthstones Lapis Lazuli and Zircon, the mystical stone Onyx and the talisman Beryl.  Also there are sun stones for Capricorn (Ruby, Agate, Garnet and Onyx) and Sagittarius (Topaz, Amethyst Ruby, Sapphire and Turquoise) as these sun signs fall within the month of December.

 

Today we are highlighting Ruby which is one of the precious gemstones.  Ruby is the red variety of the mineral Corundum and Sapphire is the blue variety.  Essentially Ruby is a red Sapphire and has a hardness of 9.

 

It is rare to find ruby on its own in metaphysically jewellery pieces.  Frequently it is found in Zoisite (a green stone) which makes it much more affordable. 

 

Ruby is a very powerful stone.   It is said to help us shake off limitations and promotes joy, courage and strength.  It is used to promote enthusiasm and enthusiasm in turn helps us to live life.  This stone is suggested during times of feeling exhaustion.

 

Over the centuries, Ruby has been used as a shield against negative energies.

 

Ruby is said to promote love and amplifies energy.  It is a talisman for sex and love.

 

It stimulates the base or root chakra.

DECEMBER BIRTHSTONE - ONYX

 We are continuing our focus on December’s Birthstones which include blue topaz, chrysoprase, lapis lazuli, onyx, ruby, turquoise, tanzanite, and zircon.

 

The Zodiac signs of Sagittarius and Capricorn, the two signs that fall in the month of December, include agate, amethyst, beryl, garnet and sapphire.

 

Today we highlighted Onyx.

 

According to “Gem Select”, Onyx is black and white banded agate (cryptocrystalline or chalcedony quartz).  Niccolo onyx, which has a very thin upper layer, allows the black base colour to show through as grey or blue.  Onyx has a hardness of 6.5 to 7.  Our highlights piece is Blue Onyx.

 

Blue Onyx has been used in rosaries for centuries.

 

Blue Onyx is said to releases stress, anxiety, worry and grief.  It is said to carry a soothing and healing energy and assists us with clear communication.

 

It is a sobriety stone especially when coupled with amethyst.

 

Blue Onyx is associated with the throat chakra.

DECEMBER – Lapis Lazuli

December’s Birthstones include blue topaz, chrysoprase, lapis lazuli, onyx, ruby, turquoise, tanzanite, and zircon.

 

The Zodiac signs of Sagittarius and Capricorn, the two signs that fall in the month of December include agate, amethyst, beryl, garnet and sapphire.

 

Tuesday we highlighted Chrysoprase.  Today we are highlighting beautiful Lapis Lazuli which is comprised of lazurite (25% to 40%), calcite and pyrite.  Lapis Lazuli has a hardness of 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs scale.

 

Lapis Lazuli is known as the stone of truth. It is used to promote inner truth, self-awareness and speaking your truth. 

 

It is associated with wisdom and good judgement. 

 

Lapis' energies is said to stimulate promotion in business and success.

 

This stone is associated with the throat chakra as well as the third eye chakra. 

 

Lapis Lazuli is used for ailments of the throat and ears and is said to helps with general pain and inflammation.

DECEMBER - Chrysoprase

Chrysoprase is used to help obtain deep meditative states and to heal the inner child.

 

It is said to assist the immune system and as mentioned to assist with fertility.

 

Chrysoprase is associates with the heart chakra and some say the sacral chakra as well.
