September has several birthstones including agate (highlighted earlier this week), moonstone, peridot, sapphire, sardonyx and zircon. Today we are highlighting Sapphire. Sapphire is also the traditional birthstone of April and the Sunstone of Taurus.
Sapphire is a variety of the mineral
corundum and aluminum oxide. It has a
hardness of 9 on the mohs scale.
Sapphire is known as the stone of wisdom
and brings peace of mind. This is the
stone of prophecy.
Sapphire is used to aligns the physical,
mental and spiritual.
The blue sapphire shown here is associated
with love and purity and helps us to stay on our spiritual path.
Sapphire is said to calm and regulate the
body and in metaphysical healing is used to treat disorders associates with the
blood and strengthens veins.
Sapphire is primarily associated with the
third chakra but is also associated with the throat chakra.
