JASPER – AQUARIUS TALISMAN

As mentioned yesterday, Jasper is the talisman for Aquarius and in honour of our current sun sign, Aquarius, we are highlighting a Jasper arrowhead pendant.

Jasper is from the quartz family and has a hardness of between 6.5 and 7 on the Mohs scale. 

Jasper, in ancient times, was worn by shamans and kings as it is a powerful protection stone and helps to ground.

Jasper is known as the supreme nurturer and its energy is slow and continual. This piece is said to draw strength and vitality and assists us in being loving and compassionate. 

Jasper is said to enhance tranquility and helps us to eliminate stress.

Red (sometimes called Brown) Jasper has been used to assist when quitting smoking or other addictions as it strengthens the emotional body.

AMETHYST – AQUARIUS BIRTH/SUNSTONE

Aquarius has several birthstones, also called sunstones or zodiac stones, including amethyst, garnet, moss agate, opal and sugilite.   Jasper is the talisman for Aquarius and turquoise is the planetary stone.

Today, we will highlight Amethyst which is from the quartz family and has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. 

Amethyst is one of the most popular of the healing stones and is considered the master healer.

Amethyst is a stone associated with calm, sincerity, protection and purification.  

Amethyst's energies are also associated with the psychic realm.

Amethyst comes from the Greek word methustos which can be translated as intoxicated. This stone has been used for centuries in association with sobriety and is also used for other addictions.  It is said that Amethyst assists with the elimination of cravings. (Oh yet another good reason to highlight Amethyst)

In healing, Amethyst is not only used on those being healed but also is worn by the healer as its energies heal the healer.

Physically, Amethyst is said to assist with headaches as well as assists and stimulates the immune system.

A pearl is a growth formed within the shell of a pearl oyster or other types of mollusk. 

In Astrology, it is said that anyone with a misaligned moon should wear jewellery made of pearls. By doing so, it is said that love with be enhanced and trust with spouse or partner will be built.   Pearls have been referred to as the tears of the Moon.

Pearls have been traditionally used to assist with sex drive. 

Pearls enable us to accept love and to see the good within us and within others. 

Pearls are the stone of choice for brides due to their association with partnerships and love.

TOURMALINE

Tourmaline is a semi-precious gemstone with a hardness of 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale.  Tourmaline is a combination of several minerals, the most common or which are Elbaite, Schorl, and Dravite.  Tourmaline comes in a very wide variety of colours.  Today’s showcased piece colours include yellow,  gold, green, pink and black Tourmaline.

The key is a symbol of “unlocking” whether it is freedom, knowledge, power, enlightenment, gateways, etc.  It is a powerful symbol.

Tourmaline is a healing crystal that is associated with moving beyond old habits which in turn make change a little easier. 

Tourmaline is a powerful grounding stone and enhances tolerance and understanding.  This is the stone of choice when a positive attitude is essential.

In ancient times, it was used to ward off evil spirits. Today it is still used as a shamanic stone for protection and purification.

Today's creation is a cluster of Mother of pearl beads on a backdrop of hammered silver.

Mother of Pearl is an aid to heighten intuition, psychic sensitivity, and imagination.  It attracts prosperity and good fortune.

This silver bracelet has been adorn with a Clear Quartz nugget.

Clear Quartz Crystal has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale and is the most common stone found on our planet.

QUARTZ CRYSTAL SILVER BRACELET

CROWNED HEAD WITH OBSIDIAN & CRYSTAL

We are currently upcycling or repurposing silverware to create wonderful pieces of jewellery.

Today we are highlighting this lovely spoon head with its crowning handle.  We have also adorned the pendant with a small obsidian bead and a small crystal bead.

Obsidian is natural glass occurring from molten magma and has a hardness of 5 to 5.5.  Crystals are not natural crystals minerals but are lead crystal glass made by various companies such as Swarovski in Austria.

Obsidian will enhance integrity and honesty and is the stone of manifesting and healing.   Obsidian is a protective stone and helps to alleviate negativity.  Obsidian assists with dealing with emotional blockages.   Obsidian is associates with the root or first chakra.

Larvikite contains a high percentage of the mineral anorthoclase but also contains feldspar which gives it the blue reflective qualities.  Larvikite has a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale.

Larvikite is a grounding and protective stone originating from Norway (also known as Black Labradorite or Norwegian Moonstone).
