ORANGE CALCITE & AGATE

Calcite has a hardness of 3 and ranges in colour from colourless to all colours of the rainbow and beyond. 

Agate is a banded stone which makes it stand out from any other Chalcedony.  It has a hardness of 7.

Calcite is an amplifier and cleanser particularly of unwanted energies.  It is a stone of choice when wanting to recognize and move beyond old habits and beliefs.

Orange Calcite has creative energies and gives us the motivation and inspiration to push forward. 

This stone is a first choice to assist when dealing with depression and stress.  It is also associated with wealth and abundance.

Agate is a slow and low vibrational stone. Sure but steady, its energetic effects will take time to manifest but will have wonderful long term benefits.

Agate is a protective and harmonizing stone which relieves anxiety and stress. It is a stone of balance and strength, and it helps us to heal emotionally.  Agate’s energies are also said to strengthen the body as well as to helps us with our connection to the earth (grounding). 

It is a beneficial stone for students and artists as it promotes creativity.

Emotionally, agate gives courage, self-confidence, and helps to dispels fears.

Orange Calcite gives balance in the Sacral Chakra.  All agates, and as mentioned in many of our posts that there are far too many to list, can remove blockages from all chakras and are cleansing.

ORANGE CALCITE & AGATE AMULET PENDANT

SAMHAIN

Samhain began last night and continues until this evening (November 1, 2018).

Samhaim or Samhuinn is translated to Summer’s end.  It is a time to harvest and to dry our herbs.  The available daylight is rapidly decreasing and winter approaches.

For some, it is the celebration of the Wiccan New Year.   For others, it is a time to celebrate and honour our ancestors.  Yet for others, it is a time to reflect on what and who we have lost but once we have reflected to then celebrate all that we have gained including our harvest and who we have shared this life with.

This is one of the most sacred Pagan holidays of the year and is considered a holy time.

In honour of our ancestors and those that have passed over, obsidian or onyx would be a wonderful choice for grounding and to help us deal with our grief.

In honour of the celebration, clear quartz, rose quartz, amethyst, smokey quartz, etc. are perfect stones to raise our vibration or energies.

It is a time to celebrate….a time to celebrate the past, the present and the future.  You may want to incorporate:

-Carnelian for courage and to enhance your creativity,

-Citrine, Amber or Sunstone to include the sun in your celebration (for we now notice its loss),

-Moonstone to include the moon which reflects and represents our emotions,

-Amethyst to raise our intuition and awareness

-Clear crystal quartz as an amplifier for all. 

These crystals would be perfect to use in the creation of a celebratory mandala (a reminder of the Divine and that life is eternal).

Today’s highlighted sterling silver bracelet matches the Sterling Silver Collar posted on October 25, 2018.

925 Silver is 92.5 % Silver and the balance is Copper.  Silver is considered a precious metal and has a hardness of 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale.

Silver has always been a symbol of wealth and prosperity, and metaphysically, Silver is associates with wealth and prosperity.

Larvikite contains a high percentage of the mineral anorthoclase but also contains feldspar which gives it the blue reflective qualities.  Larvikite has a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale.

Larvikite is a grounding and protective stone originating from Norway (also known as Black Labradorite or Norwegian Moonstone).

It is said to enhance our visions and psychic abilities.  Larvikite stimulates the mind.  It assists us with understanding, with spiritual clarity and to open our minds to new ideas without emotional attachment.

It is said that Larvikite can spiritually assist us with learning disabilities, helps brain function and increased vitality.

LARVIKITE WITH HEARTS

HEMATITE, AMBER & CLEAR CRYSTAL

Our two featured bracelets have been created with Hematite, Clear Quartz and Baltic Amer.  One was created with the traditional lobster clasp fastener, and the second was created as the more popular slip on bracelet.

Hematite (which has a hardness of 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale) is an iron oxide with trace amounts of titanium.  It is a myth that Hematite is magnetic on its own.  Hematite is only magnetic if it contains enough magnetite.   The elongated beads in these bracelets are magnetic. 

Crystal quartz has a hardness of 7 and is the most common mineral found on our planet.  

Baltic Amber which has a hardness of 2 to 2.5 is a fossilized tree resin but it is used as any other crystal, stone or mineral in jewellery. 

Hematite is grounding, protective and enhances expansion, peace and harmony. Hematite harmonizes the spirit, mind and body. It stimulates memory, concentration and focus. It is used to assist with addictions and is well known to help with blood supply.  It is effective in dealing with pain because it maintains the charge of nerve cells.  Hematite is also beneficial for leg cramps and anxiety.

When Amber is worn against the skin, the nugget or bead is warmed and as a result, releases small amounts of healing oils (succinic acid). The oils are absorbed through the skin and they boost the immune system, reduce inflammation and are an analgesic used for pain. Baltic Amber also assists with varicose veins and increases blood circulation.

SILVER COLLAR

SCORPIO - OBSIDIAN

Yesterday we entered the sign of Scorpio and highlights Apache Tear as it is one of the many sunstones associated with the zodiac sign of Scorpio.  The other stones are beryl, aquamarine, coral, obsidian and topaz.  Today we will highlight Obsidian

Obsidian has a hardness of 5 to 5.5 and is an igneous rock that formed from molten rock.  Lava or Lava stone is also known as Volcanic rock or Basalt and has a hardness of 3 to 3.5 on the Mohs scale.

Obsidian (many smaller beads in this piece) is the stone of truth and helps to alleviate negativity. It is the stone of choice when grieving as well as grounding, manifesting and healing.

The larger six beads in this creation are Lava which is known to bring strength and courage to those that wear it. It is said that the energies of Lava help to curb our anger.  Lava is a high energy stone and is associates with fertility and is considered to help raise libito.

Lava is a powerful stone for those born under the element of Fire in Astrology. It is also beneficial for those that lack fire and are timid or lack drive.

Like most black stones, both Obsidian and Lava are grounding, offer protection and are associated with the root chakra.

As a side note, lava stone can be treated with essential oils to add to the specific healing required by the individual wearing it.

OBSIDIAN & LAVA STONE BRACELET

SCORPIO - APACHE TEAR

We are entering the sign of Scorpio today and we thought appropriate to feature the sunstones of this sign.  Apache tear, beryl, aquamarine, coral, obsidian and topaz are the stones that represent the Zodiac sign of Scorpio.  Today we will highlight Apache Tear.

Apache Tear is a common name for round small black obsidian nodules which are made of volcanic glass. Apache tear has a hardness of 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs scale. These nodules are brittle and chip easily so it is important to be careful when storing them with other stones. As a side note, I actually prefer the chipped nuggets as this give them dimension and more reflection….character if you will.

Apache Tear is a good luck stone. 

Apache Tear is used to relieve grief and sadness. This is an excellent tool for those that give support during stressful situations.

Apache Tear is grounding and is known to give protection.  Just as with black obsidian, Apache Tear protect us from negativity in our surroundings and from within (such as negative thoughts and reactions). 

Physically, Apache Tear has been used for muscle spasms and to boost the immune system.

Apache Tear is associated with the root chakra.

APACHE TEAR PENDANT

NATURAL HOWLITE

Howlite is a cauliflower shaped mineral with a hardness of 3.5 on the Mohs scale.  It was discovered in Nova Scotia. It is seldom found in crystal form. Frequently Howlite is dyed and sold as turquoise. In its natural form, Howlite is white with grey to black veins.

Howlite is known to still the mind, relieves stress, and calms.  As a result, it is excellent for sleep. Howlite encourages patience.

It is the attunement stone & is linked to the spiritual dimensions.  It opens us to insights & wisdom and is a perfect tool for meditation.

Howlite is said to help us become aware of our goals and ambitions. It aids in achieving them.

Howlite is used in crystal healing for pain, and issues related to our bones, among other things. 

Howlite is associates with the crown chakra but also said to balance all chakras.  

It is also used as a scrying (seeing) crystal.
