LIBRA BIRTHSTONE - OPAL

We continue our focus on Libra birthstones which are Lapis Lazuli, Opal and Peridot (also known as the sunstones of the sun sign Libra).  Agate is known as the Talisman for Libra and Sapphire is the planetary stone. 

 

Today we are showcasing pink opal.

 

Pink Opal has a hardness of 6 on the Mohs Scale and is a blend of opal, palygorskite and chalcedony.

 

Pink Opal is known as a stone of hope, purity and health. It is said to be the healer of emotions and is the stone for faithful lovers. It is said that this stone enhances our emotions as well as our spiritual self.  Pink Opal is used to be centred and calm. 

 

Used in meditation and with dreams, Pink Opal is said to arouse compassion and allow us to release painful memories.

 

It has even been referred to as the stone of the Gods. 

 

Pink Opal is associated with the heart chakra.

LIBRA BIRTHSTONE - LAPIS LAZULI

Today we are highlighting Lapis Lazuli which is comprised of lazurite (25% to 40%), calcite and pyrite.  Lapis Lazuli has a hardness of 5 to 5.5 on the MOHS scale.

 

Lapis Lazuli is called the stone of truth. It is said to promote inner truth, self-awareness and speaking your truth.

 

It is associated with wisdom and good judgement.

 

Lapis Lazuli's energies are said to stimulate promotion and success.

 

This stone is associated with the throat chakra as well as the third eye chakra.

LAVA ESSENTIAL OIL PENDANT

This single bead pendant was created so essential oils could be added to the Lava stone which acts as a wick. Just as with stone energy, essential oils have wonderful affects on our bodies, minds and emotions. We can add a different essential oil each day depending on our needs and likes.

 

Lava or Lava stone is also known as Volcanic rock or Basalt and has a hardness of 3 to 3.5.

BALTIC AMBER, CARNELIAN AND QUARTZ

The highlighted bracelet was created to adorn but also with joint pain in mind.

 

Baltic Amber when worn against the skin is warmed and releases small amounts of healing oils (succinic acid). The oils are absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream. The oils from Baltic Amber boost the immune system, reduce inflammation and are an analgesic used for pain.

 

Red Carnelian is known to be beneficial for arthritis and rheumatism. It is said to speeds up the healing of joints, bones and ligaments and rejuvenates tissues and cells.

AGATE – SEPTEMBER BIRTHSTONE

As mentioned earlier this week, September has several birthstones including agate, moonstone, peridot, sapphire, sardonyx and zircon.  Today we are highlighting Agate, which is from the quartz family.  Agate has a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale and comes in a variety of colours and bands.   Our featured agate today is “Black Agate”.

 

Black Agate is a stone said to assist us in dealing with stress and to help us remain calm resulting in inner strength and emphasizes courage.  Black Agate could be called the worry stone.

 

As with most black stones and minerals, Black Agate is a grounding tool and is associated with our root chakra.

 

Black Agate is also associated with fertility and the reproductive organs. It is a perfect energy choice for pregnancy and menopause.

SEPTEMBER BIRTHSTONE, MOONSTONE

September has several birthstones including agate, moonstone, peridot, sapphire, sardonyx and zircon.  Today we are highlighting moonstone which is from the Feldspar family and has a hardness of 6 on the Mohs scale. Moonstone is also one of the birthstones of June.  There are varying types of Moonstone and today’s highlighted stone, Rainbow Moonstone, is the most sought-after variety.

 

Moonstone is associated with emotional energies and representative of the feminine energy.  Moonstone is known as the stone of intuition, mystery and did I say emotions. It is also known as the stone of Goddess energy. 

 

Rainbow Moonstone with its wonderful reflective qualities is said to direct light into our human and spiritual being.  This specific Moonstone is associated with harmony, creativity, balance and hope.

 

Moonstone is an ideal talisman for sensitive children.

 

It should be noted that children and women may need to remove Moonstone jewellery during the full moon. If you feel your emotions are exaggerated or you are highly sensitive, it is suggested that you remove any Moonstone jewellery until the full moon’s energy begins to wane.
