APACHE TEARS (OBSIDIAN)

Apache Tears is a common name for round small black obsidian nodules which are made up of volcanic glass.  Apache tears are 5 to 5.5 in hardness.  These stones are brittle and chip easily so it is important to be careful when storing with other stones.  As a side note, I actually prefer the chipped nuggets as this give them dimension and more reflection….character if you will.

Apache tears are good luck stones. 

Apache tears are used to relieve grief and sadness.  This is an excellent tool for those that give support during stressful situations.

AXINITE

Axinite is 6.5 to 7 in hardness.  It can be found in varying shades of brown, grey and black.  Rarely, this stone can be purple, blue, green, yellow and orange in colour.  It has a reflective quality similar to glass (Vitreous luster).

Axinite is the stone of truth. 

Axinite stimulates the mind and helps us with recall.  It assists with focus, clarity and to find creative solutions.

Kyanite has a hardness of 3.5 to 7 depending on whether it is cut on its long axis or not.  It is normally blue in colour but can also be green, grey or white.  Kyanite’s colour is generally blotchy and streaked.

The key word for Kyanite could be Balancing.

Kyanite is known to invoke fairness and loyalty.  As a result it is a great choice for repairing relationships, contract negotiations, etc.  This is a stone of choice for counselors, mediators and arbitrators. 

Kyanite is known to assist in speaking our truth.  Carry Kyanite with you if you are going to be doing any type of public speaking or presentations.

Celestite (also known as Celestine) has a hardness of 3 to 3.5 and as a result is very fragile.  It ranges in colour from clear, blue, orange, light brown, and green/blue.  Please note that Celestite will fade is kept continually in sunlight.

Celestite is known as the Angel or angelic stone and is said to connect us to divine energy.

Angelic guidance and wisdom is said to be invited when praying or meditating the Celestite.  It is said to also use Celestite to assist in asto travel.  This is a perfect tool for developing physic abilities.

Agate has a hardness of 6.5 to 7. It comes in a wide variety of colours and is banded. Agate is a Chalcedony mineral, which is a microcrystalline variety of the Quartz family. 

Black Agate which is used in this pendant is a stone said to assist us in dealing with stress. It helps us to remain calm which can provide inner strength and emphasize courage.

As with most black stones and minerals, Black Agate is a grounding tool and is associated with our root chakra.

We have created this pendant which incorporates a heart shaped outline and it includes the word “Love”. The stone of choice is Rose quartz as it is the universal stone representing love…both love for others and love for self.  Self-love is an important lesson for most of us. Rose Quartz is a crystal of high energy and unconditional love for any situation.

Rose quartz is used for self-esteem and self-worth. Its loving energies teach us to apply this love to ourselves. This in turn assists us with our own self-worth.

Petrified wood is a fossilized wood but the organic materials of the wood have been replaced by minerals such as Jasper and Chalcedony. It has a hardness of 6.5 to 7.

Like most other fossils, petrified wood is a grounding and stabilizing stone.  Petrified wood has a positive effect on business and the world around us because its energies attract harmony and organization. 

Petrified wood and other fossils are traditionally used to do work with past life issues. 

Petrified wood is an excellent compliment (either through wearing it or meditating with it) for those living in the city and do not have the opportunity to connection with Nature.

Yet another popular stone is the simple wrapped Watermelon Tourmaline accented with Rose Quartz.

Tourmaline is a complex silicate with a hardness of 7 to 7.5 It comes in a variety of colours from clear, pink, green, grey, black, etc.

SNOW QUARTZ PENDANT

Here is our very popular red Howlite Tree of Life.

Howlite when in its raw form is a cauliflower shaped stone with a hardness of 3.5. It is seldom found in crystal form. Howlite is naturally white with grey to black veins but frequently it is dyed. As a result, it is sold in many different colours just as with our creation. Most frequently it is dyed and sold as turquoise. However there is a white turquoise that looks similar to Howlite in its natural colour.

Howlite is known as the calming stone and is an excellent choice for stress relief. 

It is the attunement stone & is linked to the spiritual dimensions. It opens us to insights & wisdom and is a perfect tool for meditation.

DISCOLOURING OF JEWELLERY

There are various reasons why jewellery discolours. The two main causes of discolouration of jewellery is the jewellery coming into contact with sweat and perfume. If you live near the ocean, the salty ocean spray will cause discolouration.

If you are swimming in the ocean, spending extended periods by the ocean or going to work out, remove your jewellery to keep it looking fresh and new. 

When using perfume, ensure that it is placed or sprayed on areas where you will not be wearing your jewellery.

Unfortunately, some people have a high acidic PH which will also cause the jewellery to discolour more rapidly if the jewellery is worn daily.

DISCOLOURING OF JEWELLERY

HAIR CAUGHT IN NECKLACE CLASP

How often has your hair got entangled in you necklace clasp? It is not only a nuisance but can hurt.

To avoid this, purchase clear aquarium tubing at a local pet store. Cut a piece long enough to cover the length of the clasp and ring. Slide the tubing onto the chain, fastened the clasp and slide the tubing over the clasp. 

The clear tubing will not be noticeable and will protect you against that inevitable knot of hair at the end of the day.
