CARNELIAN – Leo Sunstone

Yesterday we featured Onyx, a sunstone of the sign Leo.  Today, we are featuring Carnelian, another sunstone of the sign Leo.

Carnelian is chalcedony quartz and has a hardness of 6.5 to 7. 

In ancient times, Carnelian was used as an amulet or talisman.

Carnelian is a high energy grounding and stabilizing stone and is the stone of choice to help remove fear and create courage. It is used for concentration and to calms anger.

Carnelian is also associated with creativity and stimulates energy and drive thus it is a motivational stone.

In healing, it is said to influence the female reproductive organs and is said to be beneficial for depression.

Carnelian is the Sunstone of Virgo and the alternative birthstone of Ruby for July.

Carnelian is associated with the second or sacral chakra.

Onyx is one of the many sunstones of Leo (A birthstone is different as if represents a specific month of the year). 

Onyx is a form of chalcedony from the quartz family and has a hardness of 7.

Our featured stone today is Black Onyx which is known as the stone of strength, both physically and emotionally. It has been used to aid concentration and to help us with self-discipline. Onyx is said to provide support and self-confidence.

It is invaluable with past life work and helps to eliminate fear and worry.

Physically, Onyx balances the yin and yang energies within our bodies.

There is a set of stones that have been formulated in association with the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Black Onyx can be used as the fourth step as part of the continuing to take inventory stage.

Onyx is associated with the root chakra.

This is our final post in our remake series this week.  Again, we were given a plain beaded bracelet and and were asked to use the beads to redesign a bracelet that was fun and funky. 

Recycling the beads and an old ear cuff, we have created a charm bracelet with a little more pop and fair.

Why hang on to jewellery pieces that you will not longer wear.  The pieces can be recreated to more suit you style and tastes. 

It is not just diamonds and gold that can be upcycled.

MOONSTONE AND THE FULL MOON

We felt it only fitting to feature Moonstone as we will be experiencing the full moon/eclipse tomorrow.  Moonstone and the moon are both emotional energies.  Both are representative of the feminine energy.  Today the moon energies will be heightened as it will be full and we have an eclipse as well.  Even thought the eclipse will not be seen locally, the energies will still have their influence.

Moonstone is a stone of intuition, mystery and did I say emotions.   It is known as the stone of Goddess energy.

Peach Moonstone (the type of moonstone in our featured pendant) highlights feminine energies and assists in soothing stress and stabilizing emotions. 

Peach Moonstone in particular has gentle loving energy and comforts us during worry and stress. Its energies are associated with creativity, psychic abilities, the cycle of life, passion and dreams. 

This stone is an ideal talisman for sensitive children.

It should be noted that children and women may need to remove Moonstone jewellery during the full moon.  If you feel your emotions are exaggerated or you are highly sensitive, it is suggested that you remove any Moonstone jewellery until the full moon’s energy begins to wane. 

Physically, Moonstone is said to help the reproductive system.

Moonstone is associated with the third eye and crown chakras.

There are varying colours of Moonstone from white to grey (black) and many colours in between.  Rainbow is the most popular Moonstone.  Moonstone is from the Feldspar family and has a hardness of 6.

MENDING BROKEN HEARTS

QUARTZ POINT & AGATE GEODE SLICE

An Agate Geode looks much like a potato from the outside. Inside the Geode beautiful surprise is found. Simply put, water containing minerals gathers and through pressure and other processes, the minerals and water harden over time to create this beautiful piece of shimmering art. Agate Geode’s hardness is between 6.5 and 7.

Clear Quartz Crystal is a 7 in hardness and is the most common stone found on our planet. Sculptured by nature, no two points are the same.

Agate is a grounding stone that assists in balancing us emotionally, physically and intellectually. Agate harmonizes the positive and the negative. It assists us with self-confidence and concentration. 

The larger piece in this Lariat necklace is a slice of Agate Geode which has the same healing energies as Agate but a Geode also contains other minerals which enhance the Agate’s energies. Geodes are said to assist us in seeing the whole picture and afford us the ability to see things from different perspectives.  Geodes are excellent tools to help clear our minds for meditation and for de-stressing.
