GEMINI SUNSTONE TIGER’S EYE

 Gemini’s ancient sunstones (birthstones) were Agate and Sapphire.  Many other stones have been added to that list and the modern sunstones include both stones as well as Apophyllite, Aquamarine, Celestite, Citrine, Chrysocolla, Emerald, Serpentine and Tigers Eye to name a few.  Today, we will highlight Tiger’s Eye. 

 

Tiger’s Eye is from the Quartz (Chalcedony) mineral group with a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.  It has a wonderful silky luster when polished.

 

Tiger's eye is used to promotes harmony and balance (especially mentally) without interference from emotions. It is said to assist us with our perceptions, understanding and wisdom. As a result, it eliminates illusions. 

 

Tiger’s eye is also associated with good luck and good fortune.  It is one of the grouping of stones used to draw abundance into your life metaphysically. 

 

Tiger’s eye is considered great for children to assist with good judgement, being practical, centring and grounding.

 

Tiger's eye is used as a talisman.

 

Tiger’s eye is associated with the Sacral and Solar Plexus chakras.

GEMINI BIRTHSTONE AGATE

Today, May 20, 2021, We have entered the sign of Gemini.  Gemini’s ancient sunstones (birthstones) were Agate and Sapphire.  Many other stones have been added to that list and the modern sunstones include both stones as well as Apophyllite, Aquamarine, Celestite, Citrine, Chrysocolla, Emerald, Serpentine and Tigers Eye to name a few.  Today, we will highlight Agate which is also considered the traditional sunstone of Gemini. 

 

Agate is a banded stone which makes it stand out from any other Chalcedony. It has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.

 

Agate is a slow and lower vibrational stone.  Sure but steady, its energies will take time to manifest but will have wonderful long term benefits. This protecting and harmonizing stone is known for its ability to help us relieve anxiety and stress

 

Agate is known as a stone of balance and strength and its energies assist in emotional healing.  Its energy is also said to strengthen the body as well as to helps us with our connection to the earth (grounding).

 

This is a beneficial stone for students and artists as it is used to promote creativity.

 

Emotionally, Agate is said to give courage, self-confidence, and dispel fear.

 

All Agate, and there are far too many to list here, can remove blockages from all chakras and are cleansing.

SMOKEY QUARTZ

Smoky or Smokey Quartz, as the name suggests, is a member of the Quartz family with a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.  Smokey quartz’ clarity ranges from almost complete transparency to almost opaque and its colour can range from slightly beige to almost black. 

 

Smokey Quartz is the national stone of Scotland and has been used in the Scot’s jewellery for centuries. 

 

Smokey Quartz is known as the stone of power and for its energies that assist in centering & grounding. It is said that Smokey Quartz turns negativity into positivity and is used for protection. It is the perfect stone for meditation and Reiki.

 

Smokey Quartz is also known as a stone of serenity and is said to assist with stress which makes it a great choice as a mood stabilizer.

 

Smokey Quartz is associated with the root chakra which helps us to accomplish our earthly goals.

RHODOCHROSITE

Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate mineral with a hardness of 3.5 to 4.  When pure, it is typically a rose color, but when it contains other minerals it can be shades of pink to pale brown.

 

All pink stones and minerals are said to radiate energies of love but Rhodochrosite is known for its tender, caring, loving energies which can touch the soul and bring peace.  This stone is said to be an excellent choice for repairing the heart.

 

Metaphysically, Rhodochrosite is ideal for both those that are working with others and those experiencing heartache due to any type of emotional loss.

 

It is said when working with this stone, we can help to restore the love that is much needed in this world today.

 

Rhodochrosite heals the root and solar plexus chakras (self worth, self-confidence), and the heart chakra and other middle chakras when used to work on relationships including our relationship with self.

SUNSTONE

Sunstone is part of the feldspar family and it has a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale.

 

Sunstone is associated with good luck and good fortune. It is said to empower self-healing and the feeling of self-worth.  It is a light inspiring stone. 

 

Sunstone is known as a stone of vibrancy and to stimulate “feel good”.  This is used as a stone for inspirational speakers, leadership and independence (pushing us to stick with our goals). 

 

Sunstone is a stone associates with weight loss because of the “ray of hope” that it provides.  It is said that Sunstone give us that extra little push we may require to keep going. 

 

For centuries, Sunstone has been used for rheumatism and general aches and pains. More recently, Sunstone is also used to metaphysically treat osteoarthritis and cramps.

TAURUS TALISMAN GARNET

We are continuing with our focus on the Zodiac sun sign of Taurus.  The birthstones or sunstones for Taurus include Amber, Coral, Emerald, Rose Quartz, Sapphire and Turquoise.  The planetary stones for Taurus are Aventurine and Emerald, and the Talisman is Garnet.

Today we are highlighting the Talisman Garnet which has a hardness of 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale. 

Garnet has been used in jewellery since the Bronze Age (in the third millennium BC)  Garnet comes in an array of colours from the classic red to red/violet, ambers, oranges, yellows and greens.  Today’s highlighted garnet is a deep red which only reflects back under light.

Garnet is associated with love and passion and is known as the stone of commitment.  Garnet is used to amplify and it is said to draw the qualities we are looking for in a relationship such as trust and devotion.  It has been said that its energy bring luck with love.
