Glass Crystals are not natural crystals but are lead crystal glass made by man such as by Swarovski in Austria.   Lava stone is also known as Volcanic rock or Basalt and has a hardness of 3 to 3.5.  Trees (wood) are a symbol of the interconnectedness of life.

Glass Crystal is used to bring positive energy, hope, joy, good luck and to diffuses negative energy. These crystals are said to carry energies of transformation & rebirth. 

Lava is used for strength, courage, protection & to ground.

Wood also grounds and as with Lava, Wood is an excellent wick for essential oils.

TAURUS - BALTIC AMBER

We continue with our focus on the birthstones of the Zodiac sun sign of Taurus.  The birthstones or sunstones for Taurus include Amber, Coral, Emerald, Rose Quartz, Sapphire and Turquoise.  The planetary stones for Taurus are Aventurine and Emerald, and the Talisman is Garnet.

Today we highlight Amber which is a fossilized tree resin but it is used in jewellery as any other crystal, mineral or stone. 

Metaphysically, Baltic Amber is also associated with desire, sensuality and romantic tenderness.  Understandable why it would be a sunstone of Taurus.

It is said that Amber promotes creativity and confidence while easing stress.  Its energies are known to promote patience, balance and understanding.

Physically when amber is worn against the skin, the nugget or bead is warmed and releases small amounts of healing oils (succinic acid). The oils are absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream and boost the immune system, reduce inflammation and are an analgesic used for pain. Baltic Amber also assists with varicose vein and increases blood circulation.

CORAL - TAURUS

As mentioned in our last post, we have now entered the Zodiac sun sign of Taurus.  The birthstones or sunstones for Taurus include Amber, Coral, Emerald, Rose Quartz, Sapphire and Turquoise.  The planetary stones for Taurus are Aventurine and Emerald, and the Talisman is Garnet.

Our last post we focused on Rose Quartz and today we will highlight Coral.

Coral is a skeletal structure which is slowly built by small marine animals. Coral is between 3 and 4 in hardness. Natural coral is generally the colour of Carnelian but most coral used in jewellery has been dyed to enhance the colour. 

Coral is said to aid in meditation, visualization and creativity. As a result, it is a suggested crystal for artists. 

Coral attracts love, passion and prosperity. It also helps us to become balanced and in harmony with nature.

Physically, Coral is said to assist with circulation and blood issues as well as regeneration.

Coral is said to enhance all of the chakras.

TAURUS - ROSE QUARTZ

Taurus is ruled by Venus so we though we would highlight Rose Quartz today.

Rose quartz is the stone of love - love for others AND love for self. It is a crystal of high energy and unconditional love for any situation. 

Rose quartz is used for self-esteem and self-worth. Its loving energies teach us to apply this love to ourselves. This in turn assists us with our own self-worth.

Rose quartz is calming and perfect for crisis.  It helps us to learn to accept change and to deal with unexpressed emotions and grief.

Rose quartz is beneficiary for the female reproductions system and has been worn to assist fertility.

Rose quartz is associated with the heart chakra.

Rose quartz as suggested by its name is a member of the Quartz family and has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.  The colour is usually muted but occasionally can be found as a vivid pink. Rose quartz is generally not treated.

AMETHYST

Amethyst is the purple variety from the quartz family and can range from light to dark purple and from clear to a solid colour.  The clear gem grade Amethyst is the most sought-after version of this mineral.  Amethyst, as with all quartz, has a hardness of 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale. 

Amethyst is one of the most popular of the healing stones and is considered the master healer.

Amethyst is a stone associated with sincerity, protection and purification.  

Amethyst's energies are also associated with the psychic realm.

Amethyst comes from the Greek word methustos which can be translated as intoxicated. This stone has been used for centuries in association with sobriety and is also used for other addictions.  It is said that Amethyst assists with the elimination of cravings.

In healing, Amethyst is not only used on those being healed but also is worn by the healer as it is believed that its energies heal the healer.

Physically, Amethyst is said to assist with headaches as well as assists and stimulates the immune system.

CLEAR QUARTZ POINT

Clear Crystal Quartz has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.  It is the most common mineral found on our planet and one of our most commissioned stones.  These points are sculptured by nature, and no two points are ever the same.  Be sure to look at the crystal faces of your point.  There are many different degrees and angles.

In general, crystal quartz are amplifiers which expand the white energy of our higher self. It is said that Clear Quartz will assist us in achieving clarity in our communication abilities as well as our own personal thoughts.

AMAZONITE

Amazonite has a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale and is part of the feldspar mineral group.  Contrary to its name, Amazonite cannot be found in the Amazon River after which it was named but can be found in other parts of Brazil.

Amazonite is a soothing stone that balances the male and female energies. It helps us to see both sides of all issues and soothes emotional trauma. 

It is known as the stone of courage and truth.

Amazonite is known to heal the heart and throat chakras. 

Keep Amazonite under your pillow to have clear dreams.

LAVA BRACELET WITH HEMATITE

Lava or Basalt is volcanic rock and has a hardness of 3 to 3.5 on the Mohs scale.

Hematite (the four more reflective beads) is an iron oxide with trace amounts of titanium.  It is a myth that Hematite is magnetic.  Hematite is only magnetic if it contains enough magnetite or pyrrhotite.  Hematite has a hardness of 5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale.

Lava stone acts as a wick and essential oils can be added to this bracelet for added benefits. Just as with stone energy, essential oils have wonderful effects on your body, mind and emotions. You can add a different essential oil each day depending on your needs and likes.

AVENTURINE - ARIES

Aventurine is one of the many birthstones or sunstones of the sun sign Aries which include but not limited to Amethyst, Anyolite, Aquamarine, Axinite, Bloodstone, Citrine, Diamond, Emerald, Fire Agate, Magnesite, Magnetite, Stilbite, etc.

Aventurine is part of the Quartz / Chalcedony family containing small flakes or scales which can give it a glistening effect. The inclusions are usually Muscovite mica, but can be Hematite or Goethite. Aventurine has a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale.  Commonly, Aventurine comes in many varying shades of green but can also be found in the colours of orange, yellow, blue, brown and grey.

Aventurine is associated with abundance, opportunity and luck.
